HEALTH EXPERTS

Alison Eastwood, RD, CLE

Alison is an expert in soy offering specialized insight into the areas of soy and breast cancer, soy and heart health, soy isoflavones, soy and bone health/osteoporosis, soy recipes and incorporating soy into the diet. She has been a registered dietitian, speaker, food consultant, and lactation consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1996. She is the clinical dietitian for the Clinical Cancer Center and the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at University of California San Francisco (UCSF)-Stanford Medical Center in San Francisco, where she counsels and empowers women with breast cancer on making positive diet and lifestyle changes. Prior to working for the Cancer Center, Alison was the dietitian for the Heart Disease Reversal Program at UCSF-Stanford Medical Center, instructing and motivating patients in following a very strict, low-fat vegetarian diet. Alison currently runs a private practice where she counsels clients one-on-one in the areas of weight gain and loss, disease prevention, cancer, heart disease, disordered eating, digestive disorders, infant and childhood nutrition, perinatal nutrition, lactation, cooking, and general nutrition.

Alison received her B.S. degree in nutrition from U.C. Berkeley in 1993, and completed her dietetic internship near her native Santa Monica, at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center in 1996. Alison is a member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the California Dietetic Association (CDA), the Bay Area Dietetic Association, a honorary member of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, as well as the following ADA dietetic practice groups including sports, cardiovascular, and wellness nutritionists, food & culinary professionals and oncology nutrition. She is very active in the professional promotion of dietetics as a media representative in training for CDA’s Marketing and Communications Council and a State Professional Recruitment Coordinator for CDA.

In addition to her clinical and consulting work, Alison also leads grocery store tours and gives nutrition lectures at both the corporate and community level. Her clients have included Chevron and Levi Strauss in San Francisco and John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. She regularly gives talks at the UCSF Clinical Cancer Center, the Women’s Resource Center and the Perinatal Center at the California Pacific Center in San Francisco.
